Khatm planner

Choose when you want to finish. The planner divides the Quran into sittings of equal reading time, measured in letters rather than pages, and keeps track of what you have read.

How the plan is made

Pages in the Madani mushaf hold very different amounts of text. The planner counts the Arabic letters of every ayah in the text used on this site (327,793 in all, not counting vowel marks) and places each stop where the running total is closest to an equal share. Rounding never builds up from one sitting to the next.

Reading times are rough averages for a whole khatm at the chosen pace. Your own time depends on your fluency and on how much tajwid you apply.

For Taraweeh, the plan splits each night into rakʿahs. Imams usually adjust by a few ayat to end on a complete meaning; the “prefer the end of a surah” option helps with that.

Questions

How long does it take to read the whole Quran?

At a steady pace most readers take somewhere between 15 and 20 hours for a complete reading. That is about 35 to 40 minutes a day to finish in a month, or 7 to 8 minutes after each of the five prayers.

Why not simply read 20 pages a day?

Pages are not equal. The planner balances sittings by the amount of text so that each takes about the same time, which makes a daily habit easier to keep.

Can I plan only part of the Quran?

Yes. Choose a starting and finishing surah — for example, from al-Mulk to an-Nas to finish Juz 29 and 30.
